Care Instructions
At Blinds Central we’re just as passionate about helping you look after your blinds as we are finding the right product for you.
That’s why we’ve prepared these simple tips to help you care for your outdoor blinds.
PVC café blinds
Don’t roll your blinds up wet
Any water left on the blinds when rolled up will not evaporate. Over a period of time this will damage the PVC.
Straps
When your blinds are down remove the top straps, to prevent scratches on the PVC.
Ensure your blinds are securely tied off
Each blind is supplied with tie off points on the side. Simply thread the rope from the bottom bar through the eye of the zip and tie it off securely at the point supplied. Always make sure both sides of the blinds are tied off.
Cleaning your blinds
Cleaning your PVC blinds can be quite easy. Simply wet the blinds with water then wipe them down with your microshine cloth. If you decide to use a detergent, we recommend something gentle such as a wool mix. Another popular choice is VuPlex, a cleaner that has been specifically developed for the cleaning and protection of clear PVC blinds. It’s available from most good hardware and automotive stores.
Wind protection
Whilst we guarantee our blinds will withstand tough conditions – including wind blowing at 60kph, we do advise that you roll your blinds up if a storm is approaching. This will ensure your investment is always protected.
Maximising your view
To keep your blinds looking like new – and to maintain your view, it’s best to leave your blinds all the way down as much as possible. This will help you get a much longer life from your blinds and a better finish. Ideally, they should be pulled down after each use. This will help your blinds keep their shape and keep that great window-like finish.
Zips
It’s best to spray your zips monthly with silicon spray. This will keep them well lubricated and to ensure your zips always glide freely.
Blinds with ropes and pulleys
If your blinds have been fitted with ropes and pulleys, we also recommend the following care instructions:
Strap your blinds
Each blind will have been supplied with a set of straps. Clip these straps into place (at the top of your blind) each time you pull the blinds up. This supports the weight of the roll, rather than leaving it suspended by the blind rope. By transferring the weight of the blind to the support straps you will avoid damaging your PVC.
Roll your blinds with care
To help maintain the quality of the PVC, always roll your blinds up using a nice smooth, even roll. Adjust the ropes as your raising the blinds to allow this to happen. If the PVC has gathered over itself, the blind has been drawn up incorrectly.
Ziptrak café blinds

Lock the storm catches
Each blind is fitted with two storm catches on either side. When your blinds are pulled down, these should always be locked. This will also stop your blinds from rolling up during high winds.
